Q 1: I am in class 8th/9th. Can I give the NTSE Exam?

Ans. 

NO, Only students of Class X standard is eligible for  NTSE Exam.

Ans. 

To Apply for the NTSE Examination You have to look for State Education Board Sites Regularly. You can Download the Notification and Application form from Your State Board Website. You can contact Submit forms with your School or State Liaison Officer.

Q 4: What is the syllabus for NTSE Exam?

Ans. 

There is No Fixed Syllabus for NTSE Exam But You are Advised to follow Syllabus Of Class 9th And 10th.


Q 5: What is the Pattern for NTSE Exam?

Ans.

 There will be Two Papers Paper Paper 1 is Mental Ability Test (MAT) Paper 2 will be of Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

Q 6: How many stages are there in the NTSE?

Ans.

 There are Two Stages for NTSE exam NTSE Stage 1 Exam is Conducted by State Education Boards and NTSE Stage 2 Exam is Conducted by NCERT.


Q 7: How many scholarship are given in NTSE?

Ans.

 1000 Soon It will be Doubled as the proposal is pending with MHRD.


Q 8: What is the scholarship given in NTSE?

Ans.

All selected (1000) students will get a monthly scholarship as per decided by NCERT, Delhi. Here Selected Means Final Selection In the Merit List Prepared by NTSE After Two Stages of Examination.

  • For Intermediate students (11th and 12th) – Rs. 1250 per Month.
  • For Under Graduation & Post Graduation Students – Rs. 2000 per Month.
  • For PhD students – As per UGC Norms 

Q 9: Is there any minimum Cutoff Requirement in NTSE ?

Ans:

There is a minimum cutoff requirement of 40 % in MAT and SAT separately for general category and minimum cutoff of 32 % in MAT and SAT for SC/ST/PH (both paper separately)


Q 10: Is there any reservation in NTSE scholarship?

Ans.

 Yes, Reservation is applicable as per Government Rules. Reservation for SC, ST and Physically handicapped students.


Q 11: Where are the examination centres for the first stage?

Ans. 

Examination Centres will be in Your Own District.


Q 12: I am a NMMS Scholarship Holder Can I appear In NTSE?

Ans. 

Yes, You can Appear In NTSE Examination But if You are Selected You will have to Choose Only One Scholarship.


Q 13: I live in Delhi Can I Appear For NTSE from Uttar Pradesh?

Ans. 

Yes ,There is No Domicile Restriction In NTSE Exams.


Q 14: When is NTSE Stage 1 2018-19 Exam in My State?

Ans. 

Yes ,There is No Domicile Restriction In NTSE Exams.


Q 15: What is Medium of NTSE Exam?

Ans. 

Medium of Exam depends On your State.One medium is always English Another Depends On the State from which you have applied.

The tests will be available in the following languages:

Asamiya, Bangla, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. The candidate has to mention his option regarding the language in which he/she want to take the test in the application form. Accordingly, the question booklet in that language shall be made available to the candidate at the centre.

Every State and UT Mentions the medium in their Notification.


 

Q 16 I am an INDIAN NATIONAL Studying Abroad Can I Appear for NTSE?

Ans. 

Yes, The National Talent Search Examination is open for students of Indian nationality whether they study in India or abroad at Class X level. Students of Indian nationality studying abroad at the Class X level may also compete for Talent Search Award under the following conditions:

  •  The Indian students studying abroad in Class X or equivalent class shall be exempted from the first level-screening test and shall be permitted to appear directly at the second level examination conducted by the NCERT.
  • A candidate shall be eligible to appear in the second level NTS examination only if he or she has obtained at least 60 per cent marks (in aggregate) at the previous annual examination.
  • A candidate will have to appear in the NTS examination at a centre in India at her/his own cost. 
  • A candidate desiring to appear in the NTS examination may request through the Head of the Institution where he or she is studying along with an attested copy (by the Head of the Institution) of the mark sheet of Class IX. The request should reach the Head, Department of Educational Survey Division, NCERT, New Delhi-110016 latest by 31st December of the concerned year.

Q 17: What are documents Required for Reserved Category?

Ans. 

For SC, ST, and PH – A copy of caste, reservation, category, and disability certificates must be attached along with the application form.

For OBC Candidates – OBC or Other Backward Class applicants will also be required to send a copy of their caste certificate attached with the application.


Q 18: I belong to OBC Creamy Layer Can I claim Reservation in OBC Category?

Ans:

No, You will be Treated As General Category Student

Only ‘Non-creamy layer’ students will be able to avail the reservation. 

  • Applicants must locate and identify their caste/ community in the ‘Central List of OBCs’ by NCBC (National Council of Backward Classes.

Q 19: What is my district / center code?

Ans. 

District Code is Mentioned in Application form


Q 20: Is there any state quota in NTSE Stage 1?

Ans. 

Yes, there is state quota in NTSE Stage 1 Exam A fixed number of Students are Recommended for Stage 2 from each State. 


Q 21: How is state quota in NTSE Stage 1 decided?

Ans. 

Each year NCERT decides a State Quota for the state depending On Number of Students Enrolled in Class 10 in that Particular Year from the State.


Q 22: Is there any state quota in NTSE Stage 2?

Ans. 

No there is no state quota for the final result.


Q 23: When the result of NTSE Stage- 1 held in November will be declared?

Ans. 

Normally it takes 2-4 months depending upon the state.


Q 24: Is there any negative marking in NTSE?

Ans. 

No  There is No Negative Marking in Stage 1 or Stage 2


Q 25: When is the Result of NTSE Stage 1 Declared ?

Ans.

The result of State Level Talent Search examination is declared in months of January/February by the States/UTs themselves. This examination is used only to recommend the candidates for second level NTS examination conducted by the NCERT.


Q 26: Do marks of Stage 1 Exam Added for final Result?

Ans. 

No ,The marks of the State level Examination are not added to the National Level Examination for an award of scholarship.


Q 27: When is NTSE Stage 1 2018-2019 Exam In My State /UT?

Ans.

Q 28: When will the number of Scholarships in NTSE exam increased to 2000?

Ans.

 As of Today, the total number of Scholarships for NTSE is 1000 But It will be increased to 2000 soon. NCERT has already sent its proposal and It is waiting for MHRD Approval.


Q 29: What type of questions is there in NTSE Stage -1 exam?

Ans. 

Objective – Multiple Choice Questions. Single correct questions in the First and Second Stage.


Q 30: How to get my admit card for the state level NTSE?

Ans.

 NTSE 1st Stage Admit Card Can be Collected From Your School or District Education Officer/Liaison Officer .


Q 31: If I Have  Cleared NTSE Stage 1 Exam Do need to Apply again for Stage 2 Level?

Ans. 

No ,there is No need to apply for Stage 2 Separately.


Q 32: Can I request for evaluation / rechecking of my mark sheet ?

Ans. 

No, the NCERT do not allow for any Rechecking But you can get your OMR using RTI.


Q 33: What is the advantage of clearing NTSE?

Ans. 

The scholarships under the present scheme are awarded to the candidates for pursuing courses in sciences and social sciences up to doctoral level and in professional courses like medicine and engineering up to second-degree level subject to the fulfillment of the conditions provided in this brochure.

1000 scholarships will be awarded. The students who qualify the second stage are eligible for a scholarship. The amount of scholarship has been enhanced to Rs.1250 per month for class XI and XII and Rs.2000 per month for students studying under graduate and above.


 

Q 34: What type of Questions are Asked MAT/SAT for NTSE stage 1?

Ans. 

MAT Will Have Reasoning Type Questions to test Logical Ability of Students. Mental Ability Test will have 100 questions for 100 Marks.

SAT will Have Questions Testing Subject Knowledge of Students In Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths and Social Sciences. Scholastic Aptitude Test for 100 Marks with 100 Questions comprising Sciences (40) and Mathematics (20) Social Sciences (40).Each Question Carries one mark. All questions are Multiple Choice Questions with four options.


Q 35: When Is the Answer Key for Stage 2 Exam be made Available by NCERT?

Ans. 

NCERT Publishes the Official Answer Key within 15 days of Exam.


Q 36: There are few Wrong Answer in Official Answer key Provided bt NCERT What to do?

Ans. 

If you find any inconsistency in the scores obtained, then you are advised to report the same to Through Email in prescribed EXCEL FORMAT at ntsexam.ncert@gov.in by The Given Date. The format is given below
